Get ready for an unforgettable evening as St. John’s Lutheran Church, Boyertown hosts a spectacular concert with The Ringgold Band on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 7:00 PM. In honor of Black History Month, this free performance will spotlight the remarkable contributions of African American musicians and composers throughout history.
With roots dating back to 1852, The Ringgold Band is a beloved institution known for its vibrant performances and commitment to the arts. This concert promises to be a captivating journey through music that celebrates the richness of African American heritage. Attendees will be treated to an eclectic program featuring iconic works from the 19th century to contemporary masterpieces.
Experience the captivating swing of Duke Ellington and the vibrant melodies of Louis Armstrong, alongside powerful marches from WWI bandleader James Reese Europe. A highlight of the evening will be the stunning compositions of Florence Price, the first African American woman to have a symphony performed by a major orchestra.
In addition to instrumental pieces, the concert will include moving vocal performances, including the anthem "Lift Every Voice and Sing," as well as a heartfelt tribute to Civil Rights icon Rosa Parks.
