What an enchanting excursion! Regardless of where your seat is, you can explore the vintage train and the small details within after leaving the station. It might get weird watching people in the dining car, though. There is time after the train gets back to the station to explore with fewer people on board (just be aware that the staff is trying to clean up and get ready for the next trip. So be cool, okay?). The rear of the train has an open car where you can watch the scenery pass by. That’s where the magic happens. Take in the sights and sounds of nature. Enjoy a drink or snack as the trees pass by. We didn't get the dining options, but we did go into those cars and it looks like an amazing time. The staff was just terrific. From the box office to the conductors to the wait staff, everyone was cheery and helpful. We got photos with a conductor, too! There are different trips depending on the time of year. We went on the autumn cider and donuts express. They also have Santa for Christmas, sunset rides, and extended trips. Be sure to get advance tickets, as they tend to sell out. The parking lot gets full relatively quickly, but there is also street parking and a municipal parking area. On a side note, the surrounding town has a lot of fun shops to grab food, books, games, or just walk around for a while. At the station, there is a small shop with shirts, buttons, magnets, and other souvenirs of Colebrookdale Railroad. We can not say enough good stuff about this attraction. Go, and go more than once.
